La Porte Veterinary Laboratory Testing Services
Your Pet’s Health Under a Microscope
A comprehensive physical exam of your pet is not complete without laboratory testing. At Animal Clinic of La Porte, we use these tests as part of our comprehensive physical exams to make sure your pet is as happy and healthy as possible. Lab tests help us get a clearer picture of your pet’s overall health. We use these tests to establish a medical history and baseline for your pet’s wellbeing. We use these records to help us catch deviations in the future before smaller problems can become a major health issue. Early detection is key to keeping your pet happy and healthy for years to come.
As an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited practice, we boast a complete in-house laboratory to test your pets for a multitude of issues. Because we are able to offer these tests on site, we are able to more quickly deliver your pet’s results, getting them the treatment they need faster.
Laboratory Testing at Animal Clinic of La Porte
Depending on your pet’s needs, our veterinary team will make recommendations as to which lab tests they may need. Every test tells us something different about your pet’s health and helps us build a fuller picture of their systemic wellbeing. We use this information to help us diagnose your pet when they’re not feeling well, or plan for their future care with preventative measures.
Animal Clinic of La Porte is able to conduct the following tests in-house:
- Blood chemistry analysis
- Coagulation profiles
- Complete blood count (CBC)
- Fecal analysis
- Heartworm testing
- Thyroid function
Many of the tests listed above are part of our routine testing when you bring your pet in for their wellness exams. We keep careful records to help us track their health throughout their lives so we can spot changes as part of our preventative care plan.
Detecting Disease with Laboratory Tests
Regular laboratory testing helps us keep an eye out for warning signs of disease. With regular testing, we’re able to diagnose the onset of diseases early without taking any invasive or expensive measures. We use these tests also to track the progression of diseases or other developments in your pet’s health.
What kind of diseases can laboratory testing detect?
- Feline leukemia
- Intestinal parasites
- Lyme disease
- Urinary tract infections
These are just a few of the many diseases regular testing can help detect and possibly prevent with fast treatment. If you’re worried about your pet’s health, bring them in to see us at Animal Clinic of La Porte to get started.
